MAPS Law Firm Enters into Business Affiliation with Oh-Ebashi LPC & Partners; Oh-Ebashi to Establish Jakarta Desk
MAPS Law Firm is pleased to announce that, to further enhance our legal service offerings, particularly for our Japanese clients and cross-border matters involving Japan, we will enter into a business affiliation with Oh-Ebashi LPC & Partners, a prominent law firm based in Japan (the “Business Affiliation”). In conjunction with this affiliation, Oh-Ebashi LPC & Partners will establish a Jakarta Desk, effective from July 2025.
Indonesia stands as a crucial manufacturing center within Southeast Asia for numerous global companies, including those from Japan. Furthermore, as the most populous nation in ASEAN, its vast market continues to attract substantial investment and business establishment, with significant future growth anticipated. This dynamic environment necessitates robust legal support for international businesses.
MAPS Law Firm has a proven track record of delivering high-quality legal services to both domestic and international clients, including a significant number of Japanese companies. Our firm is recognized for its expertise, having been awarded Dispute Resolution Boutique Law Firm of the Year at the Asian Legal Business (ALB) Indonesia Law Awards 2024, and and has been named a finalist for the same category at the ALB South East Asia Law Awards 2025. Further more, MAPS was selected as an Elite One Practice Leader in Arbitration, Litigation, and Dispute Resolution by Hukumonline's Practice Leaders 2024 and named as the Most Recommended Law Firm by Indonesia In-House Counsels in Hukumonline's In-House Counsel Choice Awards 2024. We have consistently supported clients across key practice areas including corporate transactions, investment, arbitration, litigation, and insolvency.
This Business Affiliation partners MAPS Law Firm with Oh-Ebashi LPC & Partners, a prominent Japanese law firm renowned for its deep expertise, international reach, and client-centric philosophy. Oh-Ebashi LPC & Partners traces its origins to Osaka in 1981, founded by Tadashi Ishikawa, Makoto Miyazaki, and Hiroaki Tsukamoto, and named after the city's historic bridge. Guided by the principle of being "an excellent law firm" responsive to societal changes, it grew into a leading regional practice before expanding nationally and internationally with offices in Tokyo (2002), Nagoya (2015), and Shanghai (1995). Now operating with equally strong bases in Tokyo and Osaka, with lawyers collaborating closely to serve a broad clientele in Japan and internationally. Oh-Ebashi prides itself on building long-term client relationships, providing the best legal advice and solutions, and striving to exceed expectations as an ideal legal partner. The firm's excellence is consistently recognized through high rankings and awards from leading international legal directories and publications, such as Chambers & Partners (Asia-Pacific and Global), The Legal 500 Asia Pacific, IFLR1000, Asialaw Profiles, and Benchmark Litigation, across numerous key practice areas including Corporate/M&A, Dispute Resolution, Intellectual Property, and Banking & Finance.
Oh-Ebashi LPC & Partners brings significant experience in advising on complex cross-border matters throughout Asia. They have demonstrated a commitment to the region by dispatching lawyers and developing specialized expertise, including substantial work in Indonesian legal affairs spanning M&A, joint ventures, licensing, franchise agreements, commercial contracts, debt recovery, labor issues, investigations, and insolvency proceedings. Their commitment to the Indonesian market is further underscored by the establishment of their Jakarta Desk as part of this affiliation.
Spearheading the Jakarta Desk will be Mr. Kohei Omi, a Japanese-qualified lawyer (Bengoshi). Mr. Omi holds an LL.B. from Hokkaido University, a J.D. from Kobe University School of Law, and an LL.M. from Cornell Law School. His practice focuses on cross-border M&A, joint ventures, corporate governance, international transactions, and advising Japanese corporations on overseas investments. Crucially, Mr. Omi possesses valuable prior experience working directly within the Indonesian legal market. Fluent in Japanese and English, he will be based full-time in Jakarta. The Desk will handle diverse corporate and litigation, especially those involving legal issues in Indonesia and the wider Southeast Asian region. This initiative will significantly enhance our collective ability to offer seamless, integrated client support and foster effective collaboration between MAPS Law Firm and Oh-Ebashi LPC & Partners.
Through this strategic Business Affiliation and Oh-Ebashi’s dedicated Jakarta Desk, MAPS Law Firm looks forward to strengthening our capabilities and providing even more comprehensive and seamless legal services, acting as a dedicated partner to companies with existing operations in Indonesia and those considering future expansion into this key market.
